NMSU's Department of Biology in Las Cruces invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor whose research focuses on the interactions between symbiotic or pathogenic microbes and their animal hosts, with particular interest in mammalian models. The position supports teaching undergraduate and graduate microbiology, building an independent, fundable research program, and mentoring students.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology or related life science
• Minimum 1 year postdoctoral research experience
• Research productivity commensurate with experience
• Prior teaching experience desirable
• Researchfocused on microbe-host interactions; mammalian models preferred

Responsabilités

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Microbiology and related areas.
• Develop an independent research program with grant funding.
• Mentorship of undergraduate and graduate student research.
• Productivity in scholarship evidenced by publications.
• Assist the Biology Department with undergraduate academic issues and advising.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Participate in externally funded student training programs (RISE, MARC, Bridges, BRAiN, AMP).
• Engage in NM-INBRE and U54 PARC faculty development programs.
