Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mechatronics and Engineering in the newly formed Department of Mechatronics Engineering within the College of Science. The position begins Fall 2027 and aims to grow the Mechatronics Engineering degree, with ABET accreditation efforts and industry partnerships.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, supervise labs and capstone projects, engage in research, and seek external funding

Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Mechatronics Engineering or related field by the start of appointment.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
Engage undergraduate students in research activities.

Responsibilities

Grow the Mechatronics Engineering degree program, including hiring new faculty and staff.
Develop and teach undergraduate courses (12 units/semester) in Mechatronics Engineering and laboratories.
Engage in independent, publishable research and scholarly activities.
Solicit funds from private and government entities to sustain research.
Supervise student research and capstone projects.
Advise and mentor students in research, coursework, internships, and career options.
Contribute to department and college service and committees.
Develop professional relationships with regional industry and research partners.
