Job summary

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in statistics and data science. The start date is 8/23/2027, and applicants from all areas of statistics and data science are welcome.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students, and maintain currency in the field while pursuing an ongoing program of scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in statistics discipline or related field earned by end of the first academic year.
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advise students.
• Maintain currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment and evaluate students’ work.
• Provide regular and substantive feedback on student work and maintain appropriate records; hold office hours.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to the discipline and engage in service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations.
