Job summary

University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics with a focus on Operations Research. The role includes teaching six courses per year, mentoring students, and advising mathematics majors, in a campus offering in-person instruction with online/hybrid modalities as needed.

The faculty will conduct research, participate in service activities, and contribute to a diverse and inclusive academic community within SAM and SIAS at UW Tacoma.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mathematics or related field by the start of the appointment.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in the candidate’s area.
• Demonstrated record of research in the candidate's area.
• Demonstrated record of institutional or community service.

Responsibilities

• Teach general undergraduate mathematics courses and multiple modalities (in-person, online, hybrid).
• Mentor undergraduates and advise mathematics majors on capstone projects.
• Develop and maintain a rigorous scholarly agenda in Operations Research or related fields.
• Engage in department, school and campus service and governance.
