Job summary

The Department of Mathematics at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting September 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and develop an active undergraduate research program.

Preferred research areas include applied mathematics such as machine learning, optimization, operations research, and numerical methods. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, with advising and service duties

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in mathematics or closely related field is required (ABD near completion considered for instructor appointment).
• Preferred research areas include applied mathematics such as machine learning, optimization, OR, numerical methods.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses including MATH 230 and MATH 316, and other courses as needed.
• Advise students and participate in service activities.
• Develop and maintain an active undergraduate research program with student collaborators.
