Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Manufacturing Engineering to help launch the BS in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. The role emphasizes teaching, hands-on learning, mentoring students, and building industry partnerships that connect classroom learning with real-world manufacturing challenges.

The candidate will teach undergraduate courses, contribute to curriculum development, pursue scholarly and applied research,

Qualifications

• PhD required with evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to student learning.
• Ability to mentor undergraduate students and cultivate research opportunities.
• Experience building industry partnerships to connect academics with manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities

• Teach/develop courses in engineering (approximately 9-10 credit hours per semester) and support the development and launch of the new Bachelor of Science in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering program.
• Advising and mentoring of students in the engineering degree program.
• Conduct scholarly activities (e.g., research) in the field of specialization.
• Active engagement in student-centered activities (e.g., research) in the field of specialization.
• Engage in service to the department, college, university, discipline, and community.
• Participate in the Winthrop community as a scholarly academic.
• Other duties as assigned by the department chair
