Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the School of Law. The faculty member will teach courses in the discipline area of Law, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in service to students and the university.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. or equivalent, demonstrates excellence in teaching and writing, and collaborates across departments.

Qualifications

• Ability to design and teach courses at the J.D. level.
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with staff, faculty, and student body.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design curriculum plans to foster learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement.
• Provide tutoring and academic counseling to students and assess coursework.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
• Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge, and publish findings in professional journals, books, and/or electronic media.
• Serve on various Law School and University committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
