Job summary

Southern Illinois University Simmons Law School seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin on August 1, 2027. The candidate will teach courses, develop curricula, and contribute to a collegial, student-centered environment within an R1 campus.

Preference given to candidates with expertise in constitutional law, technology and artificial intelligence in law, and related areas, and with a record of scholarly work. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor, LLM, or SJD from ABA-accredited law school.
• Bar admission (active or inactive) in good standing.
• Outstanding academic record and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction and develop course learning objectives.
• Engage in scholarship meeting tenure standards.
• Serve on committees and participate in governance and university/community service.
• Support student success and engagement through advising and experiential learning.
