Job summary

Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC seeks an Assistant Professor for the Interior Design Program. This full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment begins January 1, 2027 (August 2027 possible).

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate studio and lecture courses, participate in service, and contribute to a dynamic design curriculum. Responsibilities include curriculum development, student advising, recruitment and retention efforts, and compliance with CIDA and NASAD

Qualifications

• MFA or terminal design degree earned by start date.
• NCIDQ certification or eligibility to take NCIDQ.
• Evidence of teaching and scholarly activity is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate level studio and lecture courses.
• Maintain a teaching load of 3 classes in fall and 3 classes in spring (3/3).
• Participate in service and faculty activities within program, school, college and university.
• Curriculum development and recruitment/retention activities.
• Advise students and ensure alignment with CIDA/NASAD guidelines.
