Job summary

Wayne State University is seeking up to two tenure-track Assistant Professors in the School of Information Sciences at the Detroit campus. The positions are full-time, benefits-eligible, and tenure-track for the academic year, beginning August 2027.

Candidates should have a doctorate by appointment and show strong potential for research, teaching, and community engagement. The School values cross-disciplinary work and active mentoring of students.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in information science, library and information science, or related field by the time of appointment.
• Professional experience and demonstrated ability to carry out the range of professional faculty functions including conducting research, teaching students in the MSIS and MLIS programs, serving the School on committees and advising and mentoring students.
• Highly qualified candidates near completion of the Ph.D. will receive consideration.

Responsibilities

• Teach in online asynchronous environment and may be asked to teach in hybrid and/or in-person formats.
• Conduct active research and publish in the field.
• Advise and mentor SIS students and participate in academic advising and mentoring.
