Job summary

College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in the history of the Mediterranean world, with a focus on the medieval or early modern period, to begin in August 2027. The position is tenure-track and aimed at recent Ph.D.s who have not held such a role before.

The candidate will teach introductory medieval and early modern history, update catalog offerings, and design courses tied to their expertise, including some Europe-focused

Qualifications

• Ph.D. required by the beginning of the appointment.
• Experience teaching undergraduate history courses is desirable.
• Interest in transregional Mediterranean exchanges or conflicts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory courses in medieval and early modern history.
• Update catalog offerings within two years and include Europe-focused courses.
• Design self-initiated courses according to expertise.
• Teach a required methods class to majors.
• Contribute to History’s Global Themes curriculum and collaborate across departments.
