Job summary

The Department of Religious Studies at DePaul University invites applicants for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning September 2027. We are looking for a candidate who specializes in Hebrew Scriptures.

The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced proficiency in Biblical Hebrew and one or more other ancient languages relevant to the study of the Hebrew Bible, bringing rigorous textual, theological, and historical analysis to the classroom.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. preferred; advanced ABDs considered if degree conferred by start date.
• Ability to teach Hebrew Bible/Ancient Near Eastern languages and cross-disciplinary courses.
• Commitment to rigorous textual, theological, and historical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Religious Studies, including Women in the Bible and Ancient Israel: History, Literature, and Religion.
• Develop and expand offerings in Hebrew Bible and participate in cross-disciplinary programs.
• Engage in scholarly research and contribute to departmental teaching and service.
