The Mary Schiller Myers School of Art at The University of Akron invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the BFA in Graphic Design program starting in August 2027. The university seeks scholars who will lead collaborations among faculty, students, and community partners addressing well-being, public safety, and civic engagement.

Required qualifications include an MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent terminal degree, 2–3 years of teaching experience, and proficiency

Qualifications

• MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent terminal degree.
• 2–3 years of teaching experience minimum.
• Breadth of creative research or professional practice across graphic design with expertise in one area (e.g., typography, motion, interactive design).
• Proficiency in industry-standard tools including Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.

Responsabilités

• Teach undergraduate graphic design courses across all levels.
• Participate in departmental service, committees, and program support.
• Maintain a robust creative research or professional practice.
• Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing program assessment.
• Mentor and engage with students to support success.
