The Department of German at UC Berkeley invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German, focusing on modern literature and/or applied language studies. Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent international degree at time of application.
• Native or near-native fluency in both English and German.
• Preferred: degree in German Studies and a research agenda engaging literary studies through innovative approaches.

Responsibilities

• Teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory and German-taught courses for the major.
• Advise undergraduates and graduates, supervise student research, and develop an original research program.
• Provide service contributions and participate in the department’s diverse and inclusive community.
