Job summary

Wake Forest University’s Department of German and Russian invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German, effective July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will teach first- and second-year German language, as well as literature and culture courses in German and English at the undergraduate level, and contribute to ongoing scholarly work.

A Ph.D. in German Literature or a related field is required; native or near-native fluency in German is expected.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in German Literature or related field is required.
• Native or near-native fluency in German; ABD candidates may apply.
• Ability to teach German Language, Literature, and Culture.
• Evidence of teaching excellence and prior classroom instruction.
• Experience with study abroad programs welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Teach first- and second-year German language and literature courses.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish in 21st-century fields.
• Participate in departmental, College, and University service and outreach.
