Job summary

The Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Cambridge, Massachusetts, invites applicants to apply for tenure-track faculty positions in all areas of science and engineering with application to health sciences to begin July 1, 2027 or on a mutually agreed date thereafter.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD in a science or engineering field related to health sciences by the start of employment.
• Research and teaching at the intersection of engineering, science and medicine with clinical partners.
• Appointment at assistant professor level; potential for unwritten tenure-track advancement in special cases.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill teaching, research and service obligations of a tenure-track faculty member at MIT.
• Teach courses in the candidate’s home science/engineering department and Health Science & Technology at undergrad and grad levels.
• Advise students and contribute to MIT and the profession.
