Tenure Track Faculty in Electrical & Computer Engineering for 2027-2028

The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August, 2027. Candidates with advanced experience may be considered for appointment at a higher academic rank.

The department consists of nineteen faculty, and we offer two degrees, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Computer Engineering. Both are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and ranked as top programs in the country for institutions without Ph.D. programs. Most sections run 25 students or fewer. We value active learning in the classroom and approximately 80% of our courses include an integrated hands-on laboratory component.

Essential job responsibilities include teaching and advising students, continued professional development, and service to the department, Institute, and professional community. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate engineering education, including laboratory instruction and lifelong personal and professional development. Research and scholarship remain part of the role — professional development at Rose-Hulman is defined broadly as continued intellectual growth throughout one's career, which may include scholarship of discovery, integration, application, teaching, or learning, often carried out in partnership with undergraduate students — but it supports the teaching mission rather than competing with it.

By the time of appointment, candidates must hold, or be near completion to, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field. While we encourage candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering, experience or specializations in microelectronics / analog circuits, power engineering (any emphasis on smart grids is highly desirable), system design (experience leading capstone projects is desirable), and digital hardware / reconfigurable computing are preferred.
