Salem State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Criminal Justice with a focus on Security Studies, starting Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses (ethics, criminal law, statistics, research methods, theory, policing, courts, corrections, global crime and justice) and graduate courses, mentoring students across programs.

Requirements include PhD in criminal justice or ABD with degree by Aug 2027, demonstrated teaching

Qualifications

PhD required in criminal justice or closely related field, or ABD with doctorate conferred by August 2027.
Experience teaching Security Studies areas including Homeland Security, Terrorism, Emergency Management.
Ability to teach core undergraduate courses (ethics, law, stats, research methods, theory, policing, courts, corrections, global crime) and graduate courses.
Evidence of successful teaching at college/university level.

Responsibilities

Teach courses as part of 12 credit hours per semester (MSCA contract).
Advise students and engage in scholarship to improve the department and university.
Contribute to program development and mentoring within the department and university.
