Job summary

Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor, Equine Production and Management in the Animal Science Department. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in equine production and management, and contribute to applied research.

Duties include supervising senior projects, mentoring graduate students, and advising, with rank and salary commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Animal Science or board-certified DVM; ABD candidates considered if doctorate awarded prior to start.
• Expertise in exercise physiology, reproductive physiology, genetics, forage utilization, equine nutrition, behavior, immunology.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to secure external funding.
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings and engage in student-centered teaching.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in animal and dairy science.
• Supervise undergraduate senior projects and mentor graduate students.
• Academic advising and participation in committee work.
