Job summary

Carleton College is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Developmental Psychology to begin September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will teach five courses per year in Carleton’s trimester system and contribute to introductory and advanced psychology offerings.

Preferred candidates hold a Ph.D. in psychology by September 2027 and show commitment to undergraduate teaching across diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • A completed Ph.D. in psychology is preferred, but applicants who will complete their Ph.D. by September 2027 will be considered.
  • Five courses per year in Carleton’s trimester system.
  • Experience in developmental psychology with a focus on social, personality, and/or identity development in children is preferred.
  • Commitment to teaching a student body with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory psychology, psychological data analysis (statistics), mid-level developmental psychology courses, and related subfields.
  • Supervise undergraduate research labs and provide hands-on demonstrations; mentor students in their research.
  • Contribute to the department’s teaching and research programs and collaborate with undergraduate students in scholarly projects.
