Job summary

Cal Poly's Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computer Science & Software Engineering beginning Fall 2027.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and master's courses, expand curricular offerings, and engage in externally funded research with students, while contributing to departmental and university service.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience; anticipated hiring range is $110,000–$123,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and strong communication with students, staff and faculty.
• Ability to develop externally funded, applied research with undergraduate and graduate students and partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and master's level courses in CS/SE.
• Support and expand curricular development in computer science and software engineering.
• Engage in high-quality, externally funded research and scholarly work.
• Contribute to service activities at the department and university levels.
