Job summary

Sonoma State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing/Poetry beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate workshops, supervise MA theses, and contribute to curriculum development across BA/MA programs.

Qualifications

• MFA in poetry or equivalent, with strong commitment to university teaching.
• A book published in poetry (minimum one book with a nationally distributed press).
• Significant record of publication in nationally and internationally recognized magazines.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate workshops and GE courses.
• Supervise MA theses and assist in curriculum development.
• Engage in service, advising, and community/professional activities.
