Job summary

California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counseling with appointment to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach core CACREP courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and may contribute to the Ánimo Latinx Health Counseling Concentration.

The department emphasizes research leading to peer-reviewed publications and active mentorship of students, with service duties within the department and university.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in counselor education, counseling psychology, or related field by appointment date.
• Demonstrated professional identity as a counselor educator per CACREP with affiliations to relevant associations.
• Broad knowledge of the clinical mental health counseling curriculum.
• Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor in CA (e.g., LPC, LPCC).
• Evidence of ability to conduct research (including dissertation).
• University-level teaching experience (co-teaching/guest lecturing).
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach core CACREP curriculum courses with a Clinical Mental Health Counseling focus.
• Potential to teach in the Ánimo Latinx Health Counseling Concentration.
• Contribute to research leading to peer‑reviewed publications.
• Advise students, serve on committees, and engage in department/university service.
• Promote multicultural perspectives with an intersectional lens and social justice advocacy.
