Job summary

San José State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Aircraft Systems and/or Professional Flight. The incumbent will teach courses in aircraft systems design, principles of flight, flight controls and avionics, flight operations, and General Aviation topics such as air traffic management and aviation safety and management.

The position requires active sponsored research with students, collaboration with industry, and commitment to inclusive teaching while supporting student

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master’s with aviation industry experience and relevance to the role.
• Commitment to teaching a diverse student population and curricular innovation.
• Experience with laboratory development and externally funded research.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in aircraft systems design, flight principles, and avionics.
• Deliver flight operations and general aviation topics including air traffic management and safety.
• Carry out sponsored research involving students and engage with industry.
• Contribute to program assessment, accreditation activities, and student recruitment.
