Job summary

Idaho State University’s Department of Mechanical and Measurement & Control Engineering invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Energy and Power Systems beginning August 2027.

The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, build an externally funded research program, mentor students, and collaborate with MMCE faculty, ERC, CoSE, and external partners such as INL to advance energy systems

Qualifications

Earned Bachelor and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; ABD may be considered.
Strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
Demonstrated research record (publications and/or external funding).
Obtain Idaho P.E. license within three years.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Teach a broad set of undergraduate/graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering; some may be offered remotely.
Develop an active externally funded research program; publish and present findings.
Recruit and advise undergraduate/graduate students.
Collaborate across department and campus; engage with external partners.
Mentor student projects and participate in service activities.
