Job Description Summary
The Department of English and Media Studies at Bentley Universityinvites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank ofAssistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2027. We seek candidates witha record of creative scholarship and innovative teaching in thefields of Digital Humanities and/or New Media Studies. Weparticularly welcome applications from scholars whose research andteaching will broaden our curriculum and support the diverse needsof our undergraduate students.
The candidate appointed to this position will be prepared toteach an introductory course in Digital Humanities and/or New Mediaand to develop new courses in their area of expertise. In addition,the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teachexisting courses, including Critical Reading and Writing and/orMultimodal Communication.
Tenure-track faculty teach a 2-2 load during their first threeyears and a 3-2 load during their final two years before applyingfor tenure. The standard teaching load for tenured faculty is 3-2,with the potential for additional course releases for exceptionalcreative and scholarly production. Candidates are also expected tomaintain a strong teaching portfolio and contribute throughdepartmental and university service.

The English and Media Studies Department offers an array ofcourses in literature, film, communication, creative writing, andmedia production. We actively engage students through severalinnovative degree paths to complement students pursuingbusiness-related professions, including majors in English, CreativeIndustries, and Film and Media and minors in Gender and Sexuality,Media Management, and Ethnic Studies. Serving as the hub forwriting and media, the department also houses the ClimateCreativity Lab, Writing Center, ESOL Center, and Film and MediaStudies Lab.
