The Department of Aerospace Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position starting in Fall 2025. The position is primarily for the rank of Assistant Professor, but exceptional applicants within the first 10 years of their faculty career may be considered for Associate Professor.
The College of Engineering and the Department aim to expand their research and educational capabilities in sustainable space operations, including spacecraft propulsion, repairing and refueling spacecraft, in-orbit structures, and space component fabrication. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in space propulsion, space robotics, deployable space structures, onboard sensing, autonomy, and AI supporting space operations.
Responsibilities include establishing an impactful research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing new courses, advising students, and contributing to a diverse and inclusive community. Applicants must have a doctorate in aerospace engineering or a related field by the start date. Employment will require successful background checks.

The summary should include their research plans, collaboration ideas, teaching and advising interests, and diversity, equity, and inclusion contributions.

The mission of the Penn State Department of Aerospace Engineering is to develop aerospace engineers capable of addressing industry needs, fostering a community valuing inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration.
