Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee is seeking applications for a tenure track equine sports medicine and rehabilitation position at the assistant / associate / full professor rank. Based on the appointment, responsibilities will include clinic service, didactic and clinical teaching of students and house officers, research or scholarly activities, outreach, and governance. The full-service hospital for large animals provides primary, referral, and emergency care. The person that fills this role will also provide consultation for other species in addition to their equine work. The hospital has a new, state-of-the-art and fully equipped surgical facility, including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, lasers, nuclear imaging, DR, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy c-arm, video endoscopy, thermography, and ultrasonography. The equine hospitals include lameness diagnostic facilities, indoor arena, and Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center with underwater treadmill, vibration platform, podiatry center, therapeutic lasers, and more. Applications are desired by February 15th, 2025, but will be considered until the position is filled.

Requirements include a DVM / VMD degree or its equivalent and ACVSMR board certification. Candidates eligible (credentialed) to sit the ACVSMR certification examination or having ECVSMR certification may be considered.

  • Tenure-track Associate Professors will have achieved and maintain a recognized record in disciplinary research/scholarship, have achieved and maintained a record of institutional and professional service, and show evidence that they work well with colleagues and students. In most cases they will have served as an assistant professor for at least five years.
  • Tenure Track Assistant Professors should show promise as teachers, show promise of developing a program in disciplinary research/scholarship commensurate with appointment, have a developing record of institutional and/or professional service, and show evidence that they work well with colleagues and students.
  • Tenure Track Full Professors should show promise as teachers, demonstrated excellence in teaching, have achieved and to maintain a nationally recognized record in disciplinary research / scholarship / creative activity/ engaged scholarship and/or professional service or outreach engagement. In most cases they will have served as an associate professor for at least five years.
