Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Architecture in the School of Architecture (SoA). The position is tenure-track and focus is on architectural theory, design studios, and related interdisciplinary collaboration in a vibrant research university.

We seek candidates with a professional architecture degree, a strong design studio record, and an active research/creative practice in architecture theory or related disciplines.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture and a demonstrated capacity for excellence in design studio teaching.
• Evidence of active research or a creative practice agenda in architectural theory and design.
• Potential to secure external funding and contribute to the school’s research profile.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate design studios as a core component of the architecture curriculum, integrating design inquiry with theoretical, social, environmental, and/or technical perspectives.
• Contribute to required and elective courses in architectural theory and related areas, with opportunities to engage questions of design, human and environmental well‑being, sustainability, and broader social and cultural contexts.
• Develop and sustain a program of research and/or creative scholarship with a clear trajectory and potential for national or international impact.
• Participate in service to the School, College, and University, including interdisciplinary collaboration across allied fields such as landscape architecture, interior design, and planning.
