Tenacity Summer Tennis & Reading Program (Junior Staff)

Junior Staff (ages 15-18) Part-Time Positions

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

The City of Chelsea is seeking part-time staff to assist with Tenacity - a free summer Tennis and Reading Program open to any Chelsea resident ages 6-16. Morning and Afternoon Sessions are available.

Tenacity’s six-week program includes two, three-hour sessions Monday through Friday, from June 30 to August 8. Session One runs from 9am-12pm, and Session Two from 1-4pm at Voke Park, 546 Washington Avenue, Chelsea. The tennis component focuses on fun, game-based activities designed to develop participants into competent tennis players. The academic component aims to keep kids reading during summer vacation to maintain literacy skills.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • A developmental role for 15-18 year-olds seeking experience working with children.
  • Report on time and be ready to work Monday-Friday, either from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, for six weeks from June 30 to August 8.
  • Attend a mandatory 3-day training from June 25-27.
  • Collaborate, assist, and learn from the site leader in delivering tennis, fitness, and reading activities to children.
  • Bring energy and a positive attitude; work outdoors daily.
  • Help organize supplies and equipment daily, including sanitizing.
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned by the site leader.
  • Interest in reading and children’s literacy is a plus.
