Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education and NC teaching certificate.
• Experience in EC/self-contained setting preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to work with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their educational and social development.
• Follow all rules, policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
• Plan a program of study that meets individual needs and aligns with school, district and state guidelines.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons and units.
• Assess student progress and provide reports as required.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and maintaining classroom order.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and evaluate their performance.
• Maintain professional competence and contribute to the school vision.
• Attend staff meetings and fulfill non-instructional duties as assigned.
