Job summary

Village of Orland Park Public Works Department is seeking responsible individuals for the winter season as Temporary Winter Snow Plow Operators. Duties include snow removal, roadway salting, and equipment operation to support maintenance tasks. Work is outdoors with variable hours during inclement weather.

Must have prior snow removal experience and a Class B CDL. Availability for weekend call-outs and on-call shifts is required. Seasonal position from December to March, about 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Prior related streets and/or snow removal experience is necessary.
• Skill in the use of hand tools and in the operation of gasoline and electric powered equipment is preferred but not necessary.
• Some knowledge of construction techniques is also preferred.

The Village of Orland Park’s Public Works Department seeks responsible, experienced individuals to work as Temporary Winter Snow Plow Operators for the winter season.

Key Responsibilities

Temporary Winter Snow Plow Operators are responsible for snow removal and roadway salting as needed, along with other duties as assigned. The position may also operate light and heavy-duty motor vehicle equipment to load/unload materials, clear work sites or debris, and assist with other general maintenance duties assigned.

This work is primarily performed outdoors and the hours may be adjusted by management during inclement weather.

Approximately 40 hours per week throughout the winter season. THIS IS A TEMPORARY/SEASONAL POSITION generally scheduled from December through early March.

Must be available Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm; or 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm on a regular basis. A third on-call only shift is also available. Availability for call-outs on weekends, and/or a temporary shift in schedule during inclement weather is necessary.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Prior related streets and/or snow removal experience is necessary. Skill in the use of hand tools and in the operation of gasoline and electric powered equipment is preferred but not necessary.

Some knowledge of construction techniques is also preferred. Other requirements include the ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.

Possession of a Class 'B' CDL is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay rate is $24.88 - $32.02, depending on experience and qualifications.
