Job summary

Teller County Government is seeking a Seasonal Plow Driver in the Transportation Division to perform snow removal on County roads. This night-shift, temporary position may be on-call based on snow and weather events. Some physical labor is required.

Responsibilities include operating snow removal equipment, maintaining equipment, attending safety trainings, and performing other duties as assigned. CDL Class B is required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating snow removal equipment.
• Capable of lifting up to 80 pounds.
• Good physical condition; able to work in adverse conditions.
• Effective verbal communication skills.

Schedule: Temporary/Seasonal; Night Shift; on-call availability required based on snow and weather events. Hours may vary depending on operational needs and snowfall.

A Seasonal Plow Driver in the Transportation Division performs snow removal on County roads; some physical labor may also be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS: (All persons, with or without reasonable accommodation, who can perform the essential functions/tasks required of this job or position will receive consideration.)

• (1) Operate various snow removal equipment to clear snow and other weather or disaster related emergency situations.
• (2) Responsible for proper care of assigned equipment.
• (3) Attend safety and job training classes.
• (4) Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Working knowledge and ability to operate snow removal equipment.
• Ability to provide day-to-day maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Proven work experience as an equipment operator and/or truck driver; any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Must be in good physical condition with the ability to lift and carry 80 pounds. Must be able to use a variety of hand tools.
• Must be able to work under adverse conditions for extended periods of time. Such conditions will include dirt, noise, rain, snow and extremes of temperatures.
• Varied work schedules are required during certain weather conditions.
• Possession of a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License Class B or above without restrictions.
