The position runs from October 9, 2026 to April 22, 2027. Starting wages are $22.50/hour for new seasonal workers and $24.00/hour for returning seasonal workers, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Safety-focused and detail-oriented.
• Must possess a Class A or B CDL with air brakes before hire.
• Provide electronic consent for a full query in the TS Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must obtain CDL Class A or B with air brakes within 45 days of hire.
• Maintain CDL with air brakes through the season.

This temporary position runs from October 9, 2026 - April 22, 2027.

Schedule And Pay

During winter operations, the Iowa DOT works around the clock and you’ll be on call to provide support! Schedules and hours are flexible, and we do our best to work around your availability.

Starting wages are outlined below, with opportunity for overtime pay as the weather or garage needs:

• New Seasonal Workers - $22.50
• Returning Seasonal Workers - $24.00
  • Returning = worked any seasonal positions since Oct. 1, 2020

This is a non-merit temporary position with the Iowa Department of Transportation.
