A leading company in water services seeks a skilled operator for their facility. The role involves managing water treatment processes, operating pumps and valves, performing laboratory analyses, and ensuring compliance with regulations. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure proper execution of shift duties, including accurate log book entries, plant checks, and end-of-shift reviews. Complete operational records and understand their significance.
Know the location and operation of the intake structure and associated equipment. Understand flow processes and the purpose of various tanks within the facility.
Operate Dam Control Structures, including Crest and Tainter Gates, with minimal supervision.
Start, stop, and adjust High Service Pumps; recognize normal and abnormal operations through inspections and report findings. Understand pump capacities and their role in water delivery.
Identify all chemical feed points, understand storage and feed characteristics, operate and troubleshoot chemical systems, and record chemical usage, including chlorine dosing and residuals.
Perform laboratory analyses, maintain records, and conduct sampling during routine and non-routine conditions.
Manage filter washing procedures, including component processes, flow management, and backwashing. Understand regulatory requirements related to filter operation.
Monitor basins for proper chemical mixing, levels, and sludge removal. Operate automatic sludge collection equipment and report anomalies.
Know the locations of NPDES discharge points, perform sampling and recordkeeping, and understand permitted parameters.
Oversee powerhouse operations, respond to power outages, and operate valves in emergency situations.
Operate hydroelectric and diesel generators with minimal supervision.
Handle communication equipment, such as telephones and radios, routing messages appropriately.
Operate raw water control valves and demonstrate their function.
Record weather data from the U.S. Weather Bureau station.
Coordinate with operational personnel and assist with maintenance and repairs. Manage assigned vehicle and perform cleaning tasks.
Understand SCADA system layout and controls; operate plant components and make adjustments with minimal supervision. Use SCADA to monitor and control distribution systems and respond to alarms.
Inspect and calibrate water quality monitoring instruments, including pH meters, turbidimeters, particle counters, and analyzers.
Operate in residual handling areas, perform spray field inspections and applications, and understand standard operating procedures.
Perform preventative maintenance and generate work orders independently.
Handle chemicals and supplies, including loading/unloading and paperwork.
Perform other related duties as required.
