Job summary

Volunteer State Community College is seeking a temporary tutor to support students in the Learning Commons pool. The tutor works with instructors and students individually and in small groups to facilitate effective learning.

Duties include helping students navigate online environments, leading one-on-one and small group sessions, and assisting with feedback on assignments. Pay is $16.00 per hour, with applications reviewed as openings arise.

Qualifications

• Degree in the discipline or related field, or subject-matter expertise.
• If no degree, a B or higher in the course with instructor approval.

Minimum Qualifications

For applicants with a degree: Degree in the discipline or related field or expertise in subject matter content. For applicants without a degree: B or higher in course. Recommendation of two VSCC or other college-level instructors.

Preferred Qualifications

For student tutors, A in course.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay Rate

$16.00 per hour
