Job summary

Baker Tilly is hiring a Seasonal Tax Preparer to join a fully remote team for the February 1, 2027 to April 15, 2027 period. You will prepare individual (1040) and fiduciary (1041) returns in a fast-paced, quality-driven setting and collaborate with a centralized tax team across the firm.

Ideal candidates have foundational tax knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow structured processes while working at least 30 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM local time).

Qualifications

• Industry knowledge of individual and fiduciary tax forms (1040/1041) preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume tax season.
• Familiarity with standard tax regulations and firm procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual income tax returns (Form 1040/1041) and related schedules.
• Process client financial data using tax software in a paperless environment.
• Apply firm policies, tax regulations, and standardized procedures to deliver quality returns.
• Collaborate within a fully remote team and meet productivity goals.
• Demonstrate learning and adaptation throughout tax season.
• Leverage prior tax preparation experience when available.

• Prepare individual income tax returns (Form 1040 and/or 1041, along with related schedules) with accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume environment
• Process client financial data using tax preparation software
• Apply firm policies, tax regulations, and standardized procedures to deliver high-quality returns
• Collaborate within a centralized, fully remote team environment while managing individual productivity goals
• Demonstrate continuous learning and adaptation throughout the tax season
• Previous tax preparation experience highly preferred
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Availability to work minimum 30 hours/week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM local time; Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
• Solid reading comprehension and ability to interpret tax documentation
• Basic understanding of tax and accounting terminology
