Job description

Overview

Two temporary sensory facility assistant positions (beginning of January 2025 to the beginning of February 2025) at the USU Sensory Facility, which is directed by Dr. Joana Pico and is located at the Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences (NDFS) department. The selected candidates will assist in the following areas:

  • Sample preparation for sensory tests, including cups labeling and trays preparation.
  • Accurately weigh and measure tastants according to specified guidelines.
  • Prepare solutions and samples for sensory evaluation.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down sensory sessions.
  • Keep the Sensory Facility clean and tidy.
  • Help with the preparation of the samples on the sensory test days.
  • Assist in the sensory kitchen on test days.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
