Job summary

The University of Iowa Campus Safety is seeking a Temporary Security Officer to patrol campus buildings and surrounding areas on campus in Iowa City. This on-site role focuses on access control, public safety, and student well-being.

Wage is $19.09 per hour with a Monday–Friday 3:00PM–12:30AM schedule and weekend shifts. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check; E-Verify may apply.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's license required and ability to meet UI Driving Policy.
• Successfully complete a criminal background check.
• Demonstrated customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills, oral and written.
• Basic computer skills.
• Professional and respectful demeanor with the public.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings and assigned areas with a focus on access control, public safety, and student well-bring.
• Reporting discrepancies and hazards and notifying police as needed.
• Use of portable radio communication, body cameras, and departmental vehicles
• Use of vehicle camera system and small electronics.
• Traversing outdoors in all weather conditions.

Wage: $19.09 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00PM-12:30AM, Saturday & Sunday 7:00AM-12:30AM (Temporary employees limited to 29 hours per week/780 hours per fiscal year)

Location: Campus Safety, UCC and surrounding campus
