Job summary

The City of Asheville is seeking a Temporary/Seasonal Parking Attendant to assist drivers with entry and exit in city public parking garages, support event operations, and perform custodial duties as needed. This position is not permanent and carries no benefits.

Responsibilities include aiding customers with equipment and payments, directing traffic, answering questions, and addressing safety concerns. A high school diploma or GED is required, with at least one year of relevant work experience.

The City of Asheville is pleased to accept applications from qualified candidates for the position of Temporary/Seasonal Parking Attendant. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service and assist drivers with entry and exit in City public parking garages, assist with parking garage event operations, and perform custodial duties as needed in the garages. This position is NOT permanent and carries no benefits.

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Assist customers with parking equipment and process payment transactions at entrances and exits.


• Direct traffic at garage entrances and exits during high traffic special events


• Give direction and other information to people entering/exiting parking garages and respond to customer questions and complaints.


• Perform custodial duties to address urgent cleaning needs in the garages.


• Assist with repairing gates and setting up barricades.


• Observe and report suspicious or criminal activity
