Job summary

Acuren is seeking temporary PAUT Technicians for Turnaround/Outage/Project work across the United States. Technicians will be part of the U.S. Workforce Deployment Team, supporting staffing needs with varying project durations.

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED and Level II PAUT certification. Duties include setup, PAUT operation, data interpretation, and reporting; travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary

Acuren is currently recruiting for temporary PAUT Techs (other certs a plus) for Turnaround/Outage/Project work across the US.

This position is part of our U.S. Workforce Deployment Team, which supports customer turnaround, outage, and project staffing needs across the country. Assignments vary in duration based on project requirements and business demand.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, written procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate PAUT equipment to perform examinations on welds, piping, pressure vessels, structural components, and other assets.
  • Interpret and evaluate inspection data to identify discontinuities and determine acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain complete documentation of test results.
  • Verify equipment calibration and perform routine maintenance and operational checks.
  • Review work scopes, inspection procedures, drawings, and customer requirements prior to performing inspections.
  • Ensure all inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results and technical findings to supervisors, customers, and project teams.
  • Assist with developing or improving inspection techniques and procedures when appropriate.
  • Support additional NDT methods as qualified and assigned.
  • Maintain all required certifications, training, and documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel to customer sites as required and work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and shutdowns.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Level II PAUT certification in accordance with the employer's Written Practice (SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, or NAS-410, as applicable).
  • Documented classroom training and experience hours required to maintain Level II certification.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and client-required drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Strong understanding of ultrasonic testing principles, phased array technology, and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and inspection reporting software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
    • Additional NDT certifications (UT, TOFD, RT, MT, PT, VT, PMI, ET, CR/DR).
    • Experience with corrosion mapping, encoded PAUT, TOFD, or advanced ultrasonic applications.
    • Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
    • IRRSP certification (if performing radiography support).
    • Current TWIC Card.
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
    • Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, power generation, manufacturing, aerospace, or construction environments.

As a casual employee, this position is not eligible for company-sponsored benefits, paid holidays, or paid time off (PTO).
