Job summary

alexanderwang is seeking a Temp Patternmaker in New York to develop patterns from design sketches and ensure accurate sample execution. The role requires strong patternmaking, digital pattern skills, and the ability to advise on seaming and construction to translate vision into samples.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in high-end designer brands, proficiency with digital tools including Gerber, and the capacity to work at our headquarters in NYC.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of patternmaking experience in high end designer runway brands.
• Proficiency in digital pattern making is required.
• Excellent draping and/or flat patternmaking skills.
• Strong fabric knowledge.
• Availability to work at headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Develop and create patterns using Design team's sketches as guides.
• Provide feedback and alternatives to ensure sketches translate into patterns.
• Ensure design details are accurately reflected in samples.
• Create and develop digital patterns to support design and product development processes.
• Advise sewers on steps and techniques to produce accurate samples.
• Inspect finished samples and recommend changes to pattern accuracy.

Position Title: Temp - Patternmaker

Reporting to Title: Head of Design Studio & Atelier Operations

Pattern Expertise Required: Please send your profile if you have expertise in more than 3 of the following categories: Denim, Shirting, Casual/Outerwear, Cut & Sew, or Soft wovens.

Summary:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and create patterns utilizing Design team's sketches as guides
• Provide feedback and suggest alternatives to ensure sketch can be translated into a pattern
• Ensure the overall vision and design details are interpreted correctly and realistically in samples
• Creates and develops digital patterns to support design and product development processes
• Advise sewers on necessary steps and techniques to create the sample accurately
• Inspect finished samples to ensure pattern accuracy, advise on changes

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the hourly rate range is for this position is $60 to $65 per hour, commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
