Position Summary Information

The Management and Marketing department at times needs temporary, part-time instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals and leaves. Courses have ranged from an introductory level general business course to upper-level courses such as MIS, Business Statistics, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Quantitative Methods, Management and Marketing.

The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as-needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not hired, your application will remain in the department's pool of qualified faculty.

Teach face-to-face classes days or evenings as scheduled. In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Participate in assessment to support the Lombardo College of Business’s Accreditation.

TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students. This position requires in-person instruction on Millersville University’s campus and is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.

CONTINUING SCHOLARLY GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY AND /OR COMMUNITY :
  • In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member’s field of competence.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION :

The Management/Marketing Department is home to over 400 Millersville University students offering degrees in Management, Marketing, Information Technology, Entrepreneurship as well as a variety of online programs. Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Management, Marketing or related discipline.
  • Business experience including demonstrated professional development activities.
  • Teaching experience at AACSB / ACBSP accredited school and/or significant industry experience in field.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful teaching demonstration for class teaching assignments.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or ABD in Management, Marketing or related discipline.
Essential Functions
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift/pull/push heavier items with assistance.
  • Teach courses face-to-face and online if necessary at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate modes of education delivery.
  • Able to record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
  • Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
