Job description

Temporary Part-Time Instructor (African American Studies)

The Peralta Community College District invites applications for our Temporary, Part-Time Faculty pool in the following discipline: AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in African-American Studies, Africana Studies or Black Studies; OR
  2. Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline (e.g. Ethnic Studies, Sociology, American Studies, History, etc.) with an emphasis in African-American, Africana or Black Studies; OR
  3. May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Ethnic Studies.
    (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990). OR
  4. The equivalent qualifications.
    (Candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence, as clear and reliable on the college transcripts as required on the District Equivalency Application Form. This is not a process to waive the minimum qualifications.)

AND

Applicant must have demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff, faculty, and students.
