Temporary Overnight Grocery Clerk - Orleans, MA

• This is a Full Time temporary position (May 18 - September 20)
• Overnight Grocery clerks are usually scheduled between 11 PM and 7 AM

Job Description

• The Overnight Grocery Clerk is responsible for stocking and replenishing shelves, including Health & Beauty Care, Dairy, and Frozen Foods, as well as other areas.
• This involves using carts and pallet jacks to move products from the backroom and cooler/freezer areas to the sales floor.
• The role requires following customer satisfaction behaviors: being friendly, responsive, knowledgeable, and passionate, and rotating products when necessary.
• Overnight Grocery clerks also unload trailer deliveries and maintain a clean, sanitary, and visually appealing area.
• Some customer contact may occur; good customer service skills are necessary.

Organizational Relationships

• This position reports to: Grocery Manager, Assistant Grocery Manager
• Full-time clerks may supervise, train, and develop part-time clerks when assigned.

Essential Job Functions

• Work courteously in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment, alone or with others overnight.
• Assist in increasing sales by connecting with customers, qualifying their needs, presenting solutions, closing sales, and creating loyal customers.
• Complete assignment sheets recording stock levels and other duties.
• Load and unload products weighing up to 60 lbs., pull pallets, and stock shelves.
• Open boxes with box cutters, replenish shelves, and perform repetitive motions including reaching and bending.
• Work quickly and carefully, identify products visually, and read display signs and shelf tags.
• Break down boxes, transport to storage, and read display information when needed.
• Work in moderate, cool, or cold environments, including wet or very cold freezer conditions.
• Identify and remove poor quality or outdated products, interact courteously with customers, and handle difficult situations professionally.

Additional Job Functions

• Handle cardboard baling, order and adjust products using computerized devices, and record stock data.
• Lift and load products weighing up to 70 lbs., clean and maintain areas, and take verbal orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Background Required

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Good customer service skills; on-the-job training provided.

Desired Knowledge and Background

• Prior stocking experience, ability to work quickly and accurately, high school graduate or enrolled in school.

Working Conditions

• Scheduled between 11 PM and 7 AM, with stores open 7 days a week.
• Typically 40 hours per week for full-time associates.
• Repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, and working in dry, moderate, cool, or cold environments, including freezers.

General

• This is a full-time temporary, entry-level position from May 18 to September 20.
• Food safety awareness is required.
