Job summary

University of Iowa is seeking a Temporary On-Call Dental Assistant for the Pediatric Dentistry clinics in the College of Dentistry. You will perform chairside duties and assist the resident or faculty dentist under Iowa Dental Board rules.

Requirements include CODA-accredited program or 1-year chairside experience, Iowa DA registration (QDA), and Iowa radiography proficiency (QDA). Desirable: experience with children, Spanish language, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• CODA-accredited program or 1-year full-time equivalency in chairside experience.
• Current registration to practice as a dental assistant in Iowa (QDA).
• Current Iowa proficiency in dental radiography (QDA).
• Fluency in Spanish or another foreign language (desirable).
• Experience with children (desirable).
• Good communication skills and ability to communicate concepts.

Job description

TEMPORARY On-Call, As-Needed - DENTAL ASSISTANT

Under general or direct supervision, per Iowa Dental Board rules, performs chairside duties in assistance and carries out all functions which a dental assistant is legally certified to perform as delegated by the resident or faculty dentist. Performs responsibilities in an environment that includes faculty, residents and dental students.

Worksite will be the Pediatric Dentistry clinics in the College of Dentistry.

Applicants must have the following by time of appointment:

• Successful completion of a CODA-accredited dental assistance program or one-year full-time equivalency in chairside assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry;


• Must have a current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners. (QDA)


• Must possess current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography. (QDA)

DESIRABLE:

• Experience with children;


• knowledge of Dental Assisting skills;


• good communication skills and ability to communicate concepts; and


• fluency in Spanish (or other foreign language).

Rate: $22.77/hour
