Job summary

Adelante Schools in Indianapolis seeks a temporary Middle School Science Teacher for parenting leave coverage from Oct 2026 to late Dec 2026 or early Jan 2027. The teacher will spark curiosity in biology, physics, earth and space science using hands-on experiments and digital simulations, aligned to Indiana standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana academic standards.
• Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward academic standards.
• Utilize assessment data to refine curriculum and teaching strategies.
• Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to uphold school values and conduct code.
• Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of academic standards.
• Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Maintain clear communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Participate in annual summer staff orientation and training.
• Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions.
• Attend school events outside regular hours (family nights, performances, field trips, conferences).
• Uphold Adelante's core values and educational philosophy.
• Commit to being present from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, with some 2:30-4:10 PM flexibility.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.
