Job summary

ServiceSource is seeking a temporary Laborer for the Department of Commerce building in Washington D.C. The position is temporary, with 39 hours per week during normal business hours, and will not exceed 180 total hours.

The advertised hourly rate is $19.81 plus $5.09 for the Health and Welfare Benefit. As a qualified nonprofit agency under the AbilityOne program, ServiceSource emphasizes inclusive employment and background screening is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Must possess problem‑identification and solution‑providing skills.
• Must be able to multitask, organize, prioritize, and meet daily deadlines.
• Must have excellent customer service skills, with strong verbal and written communication, and must accept and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks and other conveyances.
• Move supplies and materials to appropriate locations using wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Stack materials for storage or binning, collecting reusable and salvageable materials.
• Move and arrange heavy office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances per customer request.
• Ensure proper handling of all equipment and supplies.
• Maintain mandatory safety requirements while performing tasks.
• Accurately track moves, deliveries, and other requests for reporting purposes.
• Report damages and emergency situations promptly.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
