Temporary Laborer: Forestry – Tree Watering

Temp 5, Starting Hourly Rate: $18.22, Full-Time for 9 months

Nature of Work: This semi-skilled position involves watering street trees and assisting in various tree maintenance activities. Tasks include manual ground work such as picking up limbs, raking, operating chainsaws and hand tools, assisting in stump removal, traffic control (setting up cones, signs, and using stop/slow paddles), and other related duties. The role requires walking on curbs, driving a pickup truck, and winding hoses on reels.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
• Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to identify tree species
• Experience with chainsaws and related equipment
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods

Physical Requirements: The physical demands include driving, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs), grasping, feeling, seeing, and repetitive motions. Exposure to hazardous conditions, poor atmospheric conditions, extreme temperatures, and noise may occur. The role involves occasional lifting of branches, logs, and trees.
