Position Summary:

This position will work both indoors and outdoors assisting field and laboratory work for peach, blueberry and grape research projects. Fieldwork includes, but is not limited to, helping to plant, maintain, harvest, and process field studies. Work in the field and greenhouse will be done in hot conditions. Laboratory work includes, but is not limited to, processing samples, dissections, extraction, and others. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is desired, and Excel spreadsheet data entry is also needed. The position receives specific work instructions at the beginning of each new task and the work is closely supervised until the employee is capable of consistently performing the task.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:
  • High school or equivalent combination of education and work experience in horticulture or a related area
  • Other training will be provided as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work with or without supervision. Use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands:

Bend and lift at least 50 pounds. Work in a laboratory for multiple hours a day.
Intermittent out of town travel to research plots during the workday. Driving as needed to perform job duties.
